I wanted to post a video on a flight of the B-17 Nine-0-Nine

In tribute the the Collins foundation and the mechanics and crew that took care of her and flew her!

Forgive me you-tube for being a little emotional and wanting to honor those people that died in an aircraft that won WWII......;)

You tube has this new "monetization" algorithm that deletes posts that seem to either use copyrighted, commercial or posts somehow asking for money. That would be allowed on their "Patreon" level where you openly ask for donations and money. Unfortunately or fortunately whichever your view they don't have an HAL9000 computer to catch the nuances and the AI deletes legitimate posts when the algorithm gets it wrong. I noticed this a about a year ago, kind of ruins the idea of You Tube. But again nobody wants to get sued here that's what it all comes down to.

On the B-17 accident, one my hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. Two it breaks my heart to see such an historic and beautiful airplane lost, you know one that helped us from not all speaking German right now.

They had "War Birds" show at Dutchess County Airport (POU) about 10 years ago that I attended and the B-17 was the star of the show. That pass so over the field was breathtaking. Again may all rest in peace and a salute to a great aircraft.

Okay so you-tube shut that down. Here is another.....the B-17 in action over Germany. Loses were high. The flight crews were in their early 20’s and dedicated to win the war. 25% of all those crews never came back!

They were truly the Greatest Generation. I as just thinking when I was cruising the "Miracle Mile" on Northern Blvd in Great Neck, LI in my 1977 Chrysler Cordoba I was the same age as these kids that fought an unforgiving and evil enemy and so many lost their lives so I could do what I was doing that Saturday night.

Thank you all, for giving so much, so unselfishly and those who lost their lives their were many thank you and RIP. And they knew the odds of not coming back. That is truly one man laying down his life for that of his fellow man.

Wow! Very impressive video! When you see the damage on some of those planes, it’s a miracle that they made it back. The total exhaustion those men must have felt at the end of these missions, I can’t begin to comprehend.

Great video! yeah, no heat or pressurization. It really sucked to be the ball turret gunner if they came in for a landing with no gear down and no way up into the fuselage. A lot of the side gunners were good shots too.
