I have to say that this was a lucky one for this pilot. He elected to land on a small grass strip on Long Island and went off the end of the runway on over a rather busy road coming to rest after hitting a sign and collapsing the nose wheel.

I have to say it could have been worse. Real worse, like if there was traffic on the road. Ironically there should have been a lot of traffic on this road in both directionson a Saturday afternoon. I suppose God looked down and helped a little here?

Death takes a holiday ...........yet another accident! all ended well with no one hurt except the aircraft

I have personally driven on this road many times. It is especially busy on the weekend. Why there were no cars and trucks when this accident happended is nothing short of a miracle.

Btw.....I was told that the pilot made a mistake and landed down wind with a 25KT tailwind. An impossible situation. He had one passenger......his young son!
