..they also don't include the history of all the continuing resolutions and sequestration involved 8 years prior. They sensationalize the big number but give little notice that it's over 10 years. Anything to "click bait" a reader!

...I hear that there is some executive orders for being able to fire "poor performance". You can bet it will only be applied to the lower "worker bees" and not the "corrupt" management!! The "Swamp" will make sure they are protected!!

I know that a private ATC system will not work in the US because of the size of the National Airspace System. NAS.......The Next/Gen System they are talking about is behind schedule and over budget and has technology problems. Like if it breaks aircraft will run into each other.

The FAA is running the ground based radar system on a band-aid covering a big wound. The system is old and needs repairs that it is not getting and it breaks often.

Next Gen is still unknown and the big picture is cloudy. No body knows how it is going to work......there are Billions in contracts out there for next/gen, but what progress they are making is confusing.

But don't worry FAA says it will be ready by 01/01/2020.
(the people saying that are retiring well before that dateo_O)

Well, fortunately the "regulator" may get more money to "piss away" on something that doesn't contribute to safety. They have never been held accountable for anything! Even the OIG has called them out on the lack of oversight or spending accountability.

Twenty + years is a long time to forget what was the reason for the "pipe dream" of NextGen. Some contractors have made a lot of money and some retired "regulators" have built in a coushy retirement jobs with the contractors. Putting all the eggs in one basket is foolish at best. The more you rely on electonics, the bigger chance.for jamming or hacking.

Redundancy or layering has always been built into aviation. Some day "Murphy" will show everyone the flaws of NextGen!!

President signed 3 executive orders yesterday, one of them excluding government workers from Union protection and making firing these Obozo bureaucrats easy enough to get them "the hell outta here!" :D

NexGen is stalled in the US, but it works very well in Australia. It also works in developing nations too.
    You and I know why.

The Australian Airspace system is a tiny fraction of the US system. No comparison at all.

They could use smoke signals and it would still work!

... everyone remembers the Chicago center fire. They got through it by shuffling around the inop sectors. I wonder what they will do when the satellite system goes out?? Will there still be a way to keep aircraft from bumping ugglies??

Smoke signals didn't work so well. :p
We could compare Australia's working system to Alaska's tried and failed attempt at ADS-B for separation.

...ah, yes, the ADS-B's "baby daddy"!! There were still aircraft getting together even with the equipment. The "regulator" kept out the negatives in the report, otherwise they couldn't sale "white elephant" of national ADS-B!! Just another program with the top tier conspiracy!!

    "Drain the Swamp"!!

I don't think anyone in the FAA knows if it will work when they throw the switch on 01/01/2020

Some are slated to retire just before the big day and those left will have to fix the problems......that should be interesting.

I remember that the real estimate for going to 21st century navigation is 40 Billion tax dollars.

I still am not sure if that number is right and actually when the system will take over........
