It’s about time. I really don’t want a duck, peacock, turkey, or any other creature of that sort sitting in the seat next to me. This whole thing about comfort - emotional support animals has gotten ridiculous. I totally understand the need for service animals for the blind, disabled, etc. and those I don’t mind. They perform a valuable service.

...saw where an airline made a passenger flush her emotional support hamster down the toilet. It's time for some standards on what will be allowed in the name of safety.

I'm starting to think that these animals are the ones buying the tickets and they're bringing along their pet idiots for support. :p

Unfortunately we live in a society now that only cares about themselves, and not the comfort or safety of those around them. Its a "me, me, me, me," world.

Oh this is why Delta didn't let me bring my "Emotional Support" horse on last week on my flight home to JFK. Really, these regulations are long overdue. I've seen the difference between a "Service Animal" and somebody just trying to get their pet on board without $$$. Yes sadly it's become a me, me, me, society. I work for Hertz Rent a Car. In addition to having tell people they can't smoke in the car, when I see people come to the counter with dogs I ask them will they be traveling with them in the car. If the answer is yes I have to inform them that the dogs should be crated and if the car is returned covered with dog hair that can't be removed with normal vehicle servicing I inform them we have to charge a $200 cleaning fee so we can have the car detailed before putting back in service. There really are many instances this has to be done. When they poo-poo my warning I ask them if they would like to sit in a car covered with dog hair that a powerful industrial vacuum can't remove and also that there are many people allergic to dogs (my nephew one of them) the dog hair could have an adverse affect on them. Eureka! The me, me, me generation the answer generally is this dog is like my child to me and those people allergic to dogs, well that's their problem and yours, not mine. I am happy to come out to the counter an override the rental check in and add the $200 to the bill of those people who don't care and the car looks like a kennel. My name has gone up to corporate many times but now we take pictures of the interiors and send them to Customer Relations so they don't make "Customer Satisfaction" adjustments.

Kevin, well said. Good for you, taking a stand in your occupation. Way too many people let things slide, to keep from being ostracized. I find it quite refreshing when someone in a business doesn’t let these people walk all over them.
And btw, welcome back! Haven’t seen your posts for awhile.
