That was well done. Whoever took that video deserves kudos. Thanks LL for posting this. I would have loved to been on that flight.

I tried to find a seat on Delta's 747-400 flight on September 5 from Honolulu (HNL) to Los Angeles (LAX), and also from Los Angeles (LAX) to Detroit (DTW) on September 5. Every seat is already sold. :(

Delta flies a few 747s out of DTW to Shanghai and Beijing everyday until I believe December this year.

I was kinda hoping to get a domestic flight before Delta retires these grand ol birds.

I have to go back to Scotland for a visit early next year. I was hoping that British Airways or Virgin Atlantic would still have 74s in service. I can accept retiring DC8s, 707s, L1011s, DC10s and the like but I still can't really believe that all those beautiful 747s will soon be gone. At least I have the memory of sitting in the front right hand seat on a flight from SFO to London, back somewhere in the 1980s. Flying at FL410 at almost 600mph over the north Atlantic at night, listening to the airflow round the dimly lit cockpit and watching the Aurora Borealis and meteorites (or as the Captain said "mostly space junk re-entering the atmosphere") with only 70 tons of fuel left, was an experience I will never forget.
