I was just wandering if the admin guys have ever thought of trying to organise a get together of some kind. Maybe with guest speakers and of course a few beers? I know we the members, and yourselves, are spread out across the globe but I think it would be great to meet like minded people in a social enviroment.

I am also a member of The institute of brewing (through work) and we have an annual conference which is held in a different country/ continent every year.

I bet and what a perk huh? ;) My cousin owns a winery in southern Ontario, but I'm not a wine snobby.

I don't mind a glass of wine but I would have no idea if it was a good one or not.

When I was growing up in northern Florida, a neighbor was the chief electrician at the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Jacksonville. He said that workers there were allowed to consume samples of the plant's output to their heart's content, so long as they didn't become intoxicated on the job.

Smart idea! and less "breaks" needed too! When I was a rep for a few very high profile German tool MFG. companies in the mid 80's and went to the plants over there, there were beer/wine vending machines all over the plants. Even Mc D's and Wendy's dispensed beer like we do soft drinks. ;) Gotta remember, back in the old days in Europe, fresh water was scarce, they raised their kids with beer and wine like water. it was sterile hydration to a point.

L L...guess I am. Gave up beer after college. What kind of wine does your cousin make? Don't suppose it is available south of the border..

He makes reds, whites, whimsys, etc. it's not available around here. Dunno about other parts of the US though. It was once KLM's "house" wine. Southbrook Vineyards. Won some awards in Napa Valley too.

I have spent time working in engineering firms in Southern Germany and they still get their bottle of beer out of the vending machine before they start work in the morning. Very civilised if you ask me.

Yep, and they still have beer kiosks that tour buses can stop at, at the side of the road too! :)
