Another one bites the dust. Sad a lot of people out of work and a lot of passengers stranded and out the money. You have some protection when you use a credit card for the ticket purchase but months till you get reimbursed and you have to lay out the money for your new flight. I remember with the horrible reincarnation of Braniff III my wife's friends booked with them for a flight to Tampa but was told they have to pay cash for the ticket. Braniff was refusing credit cards. I didn't know about this until later. We drove them to EWR and their aircraft was DC-9-10! This was in the 90's and I was shocked to see them flying this type. They kept making boarding announcements that the aircraft was not equipped with overhead bins and any carry on luggage had to fit under the seat in front of you (I remember that announcement from the early 70's) otherwise you had to gate check the luggage. They still had the original interior on this aircraft! I almost told them not to fly. They made it to TPA OK but in the middle of their stay Braniff III ceased operations and they had to find another flight back think we picked them up coming off of DL. Braniff knew they were going to shut down by only taking cash right before they did shut down. Taught them a lesson of Americans wanting to get "the cheapest deal".

Wow! What an experience. Good to know that those things can happen.
