No surprise that FAA Chief Huerta is defending the Next/Gen mess. It is over budget and behind schedule.

It is interesting how FAA Management is giving away hundreds of millions in contracts to vendors and no really knows if the system will work. This includes the Departmernt of Transportation Inspector General!!!....he says the FAA is not capable to do the job.

So what is the story????........No one knowso_O

“The FAA can demonstrate that it has already delivered more than $2.72 billion in benefits under the NextGen modernization umbrella. We expect that number to climb to $160 billion by 2030.”

I JUST LOVE THE WAY FAA THROWS AROUND NUMBERS........Who sits there and calculates extraordinary numbers like this.......Who?

So according to this statement FAA is telling us all that in 12 years Next/Gen will save the taxpayer 160 Billion dollars.

So Administrator Huerta is telling President Trump that this is fact. A lawyer with no aviation experience, is saying that this to us all!

Our President is a businessman and will of course believe Mr Huerta?

    Really......!!!o_O

... I've already said in this forum, "liars figure and figures lie"! The agency use SWAG figures all the time. The regulations have to have a cost/benefit analysis attached to them too. I hear that there are over 50 outdated regulations that the "biggly one's" team that have been identified as unnecessary. Wonder how many more could be cut out of the books too?

I was injured and disabled because of "fake" numbers to justify corrupt empire building! I hope everyone is enjoying their "blood" money in their retirement.

    "DRAIN THE SWAMP"!

.....Blood money is looking the other way and doing what one is told even though it is wrong, illegal and innocent people die because of it!

Yes they know it's blood money but they choose to ignore it!!!....

I think of FAA Administrator Huerta in a job he is and was not qualified for....does he even wonder how many have died because he is not qualified to lead a so called safety agency?o_O

... only 118 more days for Michael. Only 9 more days for Clayton. The only hold up will be is the confirmation process. We'll see what happens with AAE.

It's time to get qualifed people in the positions that can increase the level of safety and not trying to pad their high 3.

I know quite a few pilot aircraft owners that are concerned about the actual effect that a so called "NEW NAVIGATION SYSTEM" like next/gen will
    have on the aviation industry.

Some interesting points that have no answer are:

Could the Airlines afford the BILLIONS in cost to convert?
What about other countries, Is the US on the same page?
What actually will Next/Gen save us all?
    What is the total cost?
    Who will actually benefit?
Does the FAA really know what it is doing?
How could Huerta's be so confident that all is on track?

I have many more questions like these. However there are no answers other then Huerta saying that it will be mandatory by 2020!

Small plane owners have to lay out 6-10 thousand dollars just to comply and be allowed in the system. The controllers Union is looking that their rank and file wondering how many will get laid off with this great system taking over. Who really knows what will happen. I know one thing the FAA has never been able to accomplish anything. They have a 17 Billion dollar budget and half of that amount is salary to pay everybody!

If FAA was a business the owners would be in jail and it would have been out of business years ago.......

SO WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?????

It is interesting that Administrator Huerta says the deadline stands and January 1, 2020 all aircraft will have to comply. The new systems will be up and running! However Administrator Huerta will be out of office as the FAA Adminstrator By January 1, 2018. I am sure who ever takes the job, that it will become very apparent that the system is not functional and full of problems that must be overcome. The current so called ground based radar system will still be up and running and facing a shortage of qualified controllers. Actually the controller shortage is so serious that it will force the airlines to cut back on flights.....

What is going on? It is corruption and inept FAA Managment that simple does not know what they are doing!

... I've heard that the new deputy adminstator will be responsible for the project until completion. We'll see what happens with the new associate administrator for safety too. The revolving door is alive and well.

I heard that the secretary has briefed the agency to prepare for possible changes in air traffic and getting a stable funding platform. I don't see it with each house of congress having different bills and ATC funding source.

I've never seen a deadline met by the agency and the project worked. We'll see if the government shuts down in December. The agency has a CR until March.

I wonder who the new AAE manager is?

.....The AAE office is a waste of tax dollars. It accomplishes nothing, but give-up whistleblowers....and prevent justice.

... true, if I knew who the new one was, I'd know how far outside the chain to go to address the "whistleblower" issues. I've already written the "biggly one" a couple of times already.

"Drain the Swamp" and lock the "revolving door"!!

... depends on what direction and how much they are willing to pay for it. I wouldn't mind seeing "the art of the deal" just squash the whole thing and re-negotiate it all to make it "big and beautiful" for everyone!

We'll find out in less than a month!! "Drain the Swamp"!!
