Well, it is hard to believe that over 50 years have passed since my first solo in an aircraft. That is the point that the FAA starts counting for the award.....

If the pilot has no accidents attributed to his own stupidity or no violations of the Federal Aviation Regulations, they will qualify, if still alive, for the Wright Brothers Award!

I can think back all those years and remember flying everything I could afford and working for companies flying some pretty nice aircraft.

I have to say I did come close a few times, but managed to not have an accident or bust a regulation.

The occasion was a little emotional, especially when a bunch of my former and current students showed up to throw tomatoes at me (kidding!!)

It was a good time, especially since part of the big occasion was a really good pancake breakfast!!!

I think I will look back in my log books and write about the pilots I flew with some more.

The FAA safety program manager wanted a little information on my highlights over the years.

Well I wrote a bunch of things for him and he posted them in the power point presentation. It was fun to RemembeR them and I suppose as time goes by some more I will look back at them.

Here is a list if I remember them all?

    1. Flew a Lear 31for the first time by hand up to 51000 feet and saw the curvature of the earth!

    2. Landed an aircraft over 23,000 times with students

    3. Did 60 touch and goes with six primary students in a row in one day!

    4. One lesson had 17 touch and goes in the pattern

    5. Still love looking at an aircraft sitting in the grass!

    6. Owned an aircraft for 47 years

    7. Gave over 4,600 hours of dual instruction

    8. Amassed over 9,000 hours

    9. Worked for the FAA for over 4 years

    10. Got a sea plane rating

    11. Landed a damaged aircraft with no elevator control and came close to buying the preverbal farm!

Well there are more but that is enough. I’ll see if I could find some interesting flight stories
