This time the FAA luck did not hold. 346 people are dead including 8 Americans. If a crash of the Max should occur in the US, I think 800 Indy would be cleaned out!

I have heard that the MCAS system can not be overridden by the pilot. I am not sure but there is no info on this!

Eventually the cause will come out. It cannot be swept under the rug this time.

BTW this is one main reason I was never a fan of fly by wire. If the computer says no, the pilot is helpless to override it.

EASA has suspended all MAX flights in European airspace by any operator.

MCAS supposedly can be over-riddden by turning off the stab trim.
The cause is already being disseminated because the FDR is being transcribed.
As I noted previously, the nose-down trimming commanded by the MCAS has no limit to the amount of trim.
Boeing is set to release new software to be installed by AD next month that will limit the amount of trim that MCAS can invoke.
I see Boeing, and the regulator by extension, trying to absolve blame by saying that bad AoA sensors were sold to the company.

This has become such a big issue, that Boeing has delayed the rollout of the 777X.

It would be bad timing for Boeing to have its usual "Big Show" rollout with MAX hanging over the company.

This incident has not only made the FAA look like a bunch of idiots but permanently damaged Boeing's reputation.

A B-767 plunges out of the sky for no good reason.
Two 737Max's plunge out of the sky with control problems.
    The 777X has folding wingtips.
What could possibly go wrong?

This investigation has a long way to go. Exactly what oversite did the FAA do in approving the MCAS system. Who signed it off and what data was evaluated......If FAA rubber stamped it .......then it is going to be hell to pay!

Interesting Times article. They seem to hit some really good points about how political the FAA has become.

I noticed after joining the FAA that management wanted
their inspectors to shut up and do they we say or your going to be pushed out.

Washington Headquarters was full of managers with an agenda. They were on their own agendas. Anyone that pushed back was forced out!

My FSDO was a sewer. Full of politics. Inept management and full of corruption.

I personally witnessed management cover -up problems in the field to hide them from the public.

I think this situation with Boeing will expose 800 Independence Avenue and the inept management that controls the FAA.

Unfortunately it took the deaths of 346 people to get the attention needed to finally do something.

I have always believed that the FAA needs to be cleaned out of it's agenda driven management.

Thanks and may the victims rest in peace

Richard Wyeroski, former FAA Operations Inspector GS-13/4

Field McConnell on John B. Wells' 'Caravan to Midnight' show predicted that President Trump would ground all 737 Max 8s TWO DAYS before he actually did. It seems that the President got some legitimate info from 'Someone' to form his decision. This all goes much deeper than we know at this time. Btw, Field McConnell Also just filed a $315 Billion lawsuit against FAA/Huerta and ALPA- Kalfus.

The swamp is just squealing about the illegal grounding. They are saying that all the countries did it illegally. I hope the "biggly one" starts flipping tables at 800 Indy. He shouldn't have put the acting Administrator in that position.

The phantom is the sexiest fighter alive.

Loved watching the Phantoms at airshows of the 60's-70's. I made many models of them too.

The FAA was willing to risk it that another Max would not crash?
