Missed the seawall- won't be flying for Asiana.

Hey EG, good video. Having brought up Asiana I wonder if they could actually use this one for training purposes. You TURNED OFF the autopilot on long final. That means you flew this all the way to the runway by using piloting skills. Say it isn't so! Then you had erroneous GS indications. OMG how did you manage to not crash? It was only CAVU. Gear came down and you didn't hit the seawall. Man oh man. Do you think this is how it should be done?

Nice job, all kidding aside. Guess the matter between the ears should be taken into account. You set it down right on the black spot. I think that is what its for. It was a nice approach and landing. Got an extra jump? I'll fly along anytime.

I wish I could let my friends on the jumpseat, but the best I can do is to get my wife in the observer's seat of the sim.

Some background info- due to the high terrain, the glideslope is a non-standard 3.5 degrees (hence the list of approved pilots), and a normal visual approach is 3.0 degrees. There are 5 different software versions for the FMGC (that I know of), and most of them detune the ILS frequency when the crew switches the FMGS to a visual approach. However, this approach was just added in the last database update and it didn't detune, nor did we bother to check that the ILS was detuned. The erroneous G/S warning was triggered when the 2 glidepath's started to merge.
