    yep another close one. The drag on the aircraft had to be high. It was pilot skill that got this flight on the ground safely.

    ...40 minute ETOPS isn't much, but it's another damaged airframe.

    I remember when they certified the DC-10 and L1011 Extended Overwater Operation. OK 2 instead of 3 if anything goes wrong. I know the track record on ETOPS has been good, but I still would like to see 2 engines on each wing a la B747. But economics win. On the bright side another skilled crew and everyone lands in paradise safely. I certainly wouldn't have been happy to be sitting in that window seat.

    ... another successful failure. All will be for not, when a hull is lost at sea with all aboard. Unfortunately, no one in the government will be held accountable for the loss either.
